Ogling Commentator Finds Miss Alabama More Interesting Than The Game

The biggest college football game of the year was already drawing local interest with our own Jesse ‘tha monstar’ Williams starring in the University of Alabama’s surge towards back to back national championships. Now the game is making headlines worldwide after veteran commentator Brent Musburger lost his shit when the camera panned to Alabama Quarterback A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend, Miss Alabama Katherine Webb.

With the ruthless Alabama Crimson Tide well on their way to a clinical slaughtering of Notre Dame, 73-year-old Musburger and the seasoned ESPN crew knew they had to keep a hold of viewers somehow. With the excitement lacking on-field, it was their was cue to shift focus elsewhere, be it raucous fans, frazzled clipboard wielding coaches, or sure, wives and girlfriends. It’s a tried and tested sports coverage technique but unfortunately the excitement was all to much for the gushing Musburber.

Bless you and the manly man blood that pumps through your aging veins Brent Mushburger. While his comments weren’t exactly keeping with this day and age, can you blame the guy for living a little? Apparently you can, with ESPN issuing an apology after the significant backlash from from viewers offended by the giddy old-timer mentally dialing back the clock 50 years.

“We always try to capture interesting storylines and the
relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current
Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that
the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands
that.”

It didn’t help Musberger’s cause that this wasn’t the first time the salty ol’ dog had been caught-out ogling women on-air. In 2006 he predicted a significant spike in admission applications after a group of attractive Florida State fans caught his attention.

But lets keep his gawking in perspective. Musberger’s nowhere near as bad as this guy.

And while this was all happening, there was actually a game being played with Alabama rolling Notre Dam 42-14 with Jesse William starring before injury forced him from the field late in the 4th quarter. A first round NFL draft pick looms. You can watch the game highlights here.
