North Queensland Cowboys captain Johnathan Thurston absolutely cleaned out the Dally M Awards tonight, which was held at Sydney’s Star Casino.
The captain took out the Provan Summons People’s Choice Medal, Captain of the Year, and of course, the Dally M Award. This is Thurston’s fourth time winning the prestigious award; he also snagged it in 2005, 2007, and 2014.

Due to the upcoming all-QLD Grand Final against the Broncos, he and his team weren’t actually in attendance in Sydney.
General Manager of the Cowboys, Peter Parr, said on Sunday night that, “Johnathan wants to go and we want him to go. We are always keen to support the Dally Ms.”
But Parr confirmed Cowboys medical staff were concerned “whether flying him there and back would impede Johnathan’s recovery.”
Instead, Thurston graciously accepted all of his awards via video link, while he rested up his calf and ongoing groin injuries at home in Townsville.
“I can’t explain what it means to me… this #DallyM is as much my @nthqldcowboys team-mates as it is mine,”
Johnathan Thurston.
