Holy Shit, The McGregor Vs. Mayweather Megafight Is Actually Happening

WELP, THERE IT IS.

After a seeming eternity of speculation, the mega-fight between boxing powerhouse Floyd Mayweather Jr. and MMA sicko Conor McGregor has been given the go-ahead.

The two parties have agreed to rumble on August 26 at the MGM Grand Garden or the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, after Mayweather Promotions was yesterday granted the green light to promote an event on that date.
You better believe McGregor is fucken’ chuffed, judging by this picture of Floyd Mayweather Sr.

A few things are yet to be settled: neither fighter is registered as a boxer in the state of Nevada. McGregor still throws hands in the UFC and the 40-year-old Mayweather officially retired in 2015, but it’s expected both fighters could pick up licenses in no time at all.

It’ll be a straight boxing match, by the way. The common consensus is that the defensively imperious Mayweather ought to come out on top, but seeing as the Irish fighter literally lacks fear, his first-ever boxing match will be an interesting watch.
The fees haven’t yet been determined, either, but each contestant has been rumoured to pocked around $100 million each from the prospective bout.

This fight has received nearly mythical levels of hype, and you better believe a hefty proportion of the planet is keen to see Mayweather’s imperious record turn from 49-0 to 49-1, so that $100M figure might not be so ridiculous.
