Fremantle Dockers Fan Who Punched Woman At AFL Final Jailed For 8 Months

You may remember the horrendous assault that happened at the Hawthorn v Fremantle AFL semi-final earlier this year, at Domain Stadium

The footage of Dockers fan Cody Luke Yarran openly hitting a woman across the face after the game went super crazy viral.
The woman – who was reportedly an off-duty policewoman called Jody (she does not want to reveal her surname) – later said that she had requested he tone down his language, as she was sitting with her children. The footage shows that he strikes her once, and people surrounding them dive to stop him.

Jody said to media outside the courthouse that he not only assaulted her, but threatened her children:
“After I had asked him to sit down because he was ruining the experience for our children he was threatening to beat me, I said ‘please you are really scaring my children’”, she said.
“He said, ‘well I beat your children as well’”.

“It definitely had a significant effect on all of us”, she said.
“My stepdaughter feels like she can’t go in public, in larger crowds because she is nervous and anxious.”
Yarran pleaded guilty to assault charges back at the start of this month.
It has been decided today at the Perth Magistrates Court that he had been found guilty, and will spend 8 months in jail.
