In a move almost as clever as posting “I love cocks” as a status on a friend’s carelessly left open Facebook page, a hacker took control of Hawthorn star Lance “Buddy” Franklin’s Instagram account overnight, posting the Greater Western Sydney Giants logo and prompting an uproar from Hawthorn fans who believed he was jumping ship.
The image was accompanied by the comment “My soon to be new home” and hastags like #sozhawks, #moneyoverloyalty and #upthegiants. It was swiftly removed, but not before it racked up over 1400 likes.
Buddy’s management issued a statement confirming the account was compromised: “This is an extremely disappointing situation and we will be investigating how this occurred and working to ensure this type of thing doesn’t happen in the future. In the meantime please do not take any notice of what is posted until this is rectified.”
Buddy himself took to Twitter to address the hacker directly, and was so furious with the situation that he forgot how to use punctuation.
The Lance Frankl-Instagram has been taken down this morning, but never fear Buddy fans...Instagram has been hacked who ever it is well done great work congrats
