The New York Post certainly made a choice after it called Leonardo DiCaprio “unrecognisable” in his new film, Killers of the Flower Moon. Spoiler alert: he is very recognisable.
The movie is directed and produced by the great Martin Scorsese for Apple Studios, and is based on the best-selling non-fiction book of the same name by journalist David Grann. In it, Grann traces the serial murders of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation in 1920s Oklahoma.
Killers of the Flower Moon has brought together two of Scorsese’s faves, AKA Leo (Wolf of Wall Street) and Robert De Niro (The Irishman).
De Niro stars as William Hale, a powerful rancher who becomes the lead suspect in the FBI’s investigation into the murders. DiCaprio plays Ernest Buckhart, his morally conflicted nephew who is married to an Osage woman named Mollie, played by Kainai, Blackfeet, and NiMiiPuu actor Lily Gladstone.
The first picture from the film, released overnight, featured DiCaprio and Gladstone in character.
DiCaprio is clearly DiCaprio, but if you ask the New York Post…

“Unrecognisable”.
Unrecognisable.
This guy.
UNRECOGNISABLE.
I just – unless he’s secretly the bloody bowl of food on the table, DiCaprio is pretty fucken easy to spot. Also, his hair looks the same in almost every one of his films. C’mon.
Naturally, Twitter had thoughts and by thoughts I mean users absolutely dragged the New York Post across hot coals.

That right there is the best use of this meme I’ll probably ever see.
Anyway.
Jesse Plemons (The Irishman) and Scott Shepherd (The Young Pope) co-star in the film, alongside Indigenous actors Tantoo Cardinal (Dances with Wolves), Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins (In You We Trust), and Jillian Dion (Motherland: Fort Salem).
Apple hasn’t announced an official release date for Killers of the Flower Moon just yet, but we’ll keep you updated. Considering production kicked off last month, it’s likely the film will drop at the very end of this year, or early next year.
