The Leukaemia Foundation‘s World’s Greatest Shave turns 20 this year.
And like any teen entering adulthood, they’re noticing some changes.
Traditionally, the event is dominated by men. However in 2018, for the first time in the fundraiser’s history, the gender balance is skewed female.
Britney’s right… and thankfully, plenty of them are doing it for a ripper cause.
The first official shave of the year will be going down on February 24th, and already over 2,350 girls and women under the age of 24 have signed up to be brave and shave.
According to the foundation, we have influencers and celebrities to thank for this upward spike in young women going full Alien.
They reckon the shaved noggens of stylish actors like Millie Bobby Brown, Kate Hudson and Kristen Stewart are encouraging women to whip out the clippers and go rogue.

World’s Greatest Shave Campaign Manager Dave Simms says he’s not surprised by the trend.
“We are seeing a ground-swell of young empowered women across Australia who not only recognise that their beauty is far more than skin deep, their actions can make a real difference to those who don’t have a choice about losing their hair as a side effect of their blood cancer treatment,” Simms said in a statement.
“As blood cancer incidence continues to rise in Australia unfortunately more young women have a personal connection to someone living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or a related blood disorder.
“While it’s certainly inspiring to see female actors and bloggers rock a shave, it’s these incredible young women, many not even old enough to go to high school, who are doing it for their friend, brother, sister, mum or their dad… that is truly extraordinary,” said Dave.
