Karl Stefanovic has just unleashed a furious take-down of The Daily Mail, saying it has “a long, despicable track record of denigrating women, of ridiculing women, of objectifying women.”

His tirade on Today comes after the online news outlet published a story featuring images of Stefanovic and a female Channel 9 producer, with a headline that insinuated some kind of relationship between the colleagues.

In response, Stefanovic said that the site should feel free to hurl spurious accusations at him, but that inferring anything blatantly false about innocent co-workers is not fucking on.

“What I can’t abide is lies about others,” Stefanovic says, before railing against “the sleazy suggestion we’re checking in somewhere and I’m, quote, ‘settling in for a long night.’

“Fact: this was work. We were filming a story about our struggling prawn farmers – they deserve a rum or two.

“The producer pictured on the website is a committed, talented, hard-working and totally professional young woman, and not deserving of this cheap, lazy, sexist online slur.

“A young woman who has spent the past hours in tears, because of the hurtful and false way she has been portrayed by this website.”

Stefanovic also bridged the network divide to mention the impact of The Daily Mail’s article on Sunrise host Samantha Armytage’s underwear.

“I’m over it,” he says. “I don’t know what you think, but I hope Australia is over it as well.”

Too fucking right, tbh.
