Wanted Man Taunts New Zealand Police On Facebook

A man who is either the dumbest or the ballsiest fugitive in the world – we’re actually going to go ahead and assume both – has taunted police in New Zealand, after they made a Facebook post calling for his arrest.
Overnight, police in Christchurch took to Facebook and posted a picture of Samuel Evan Lake, who is “23 years of age, 171cm tall and of thin build”, with the word ‘Fate’ tattooed on his neck.
They appealed to the public for information, but a loose unit purporting to be Lake himself replied, saying ‘I need to get a new mugshot.’ The police then responded, telling him: “Come see us and will arrange at no cost.”
Not to be outdone, the user claiming to be Lake responded: “If only they were as good at finding me as they were with comebacks.” BURN.
After the post came to the attention of Reddit, it proceeded to go viral as hell, with supporters piling on for both sides. At time of writing, Lake’s post has around 2500 likes, while the Christchurch Police’s response has 4700, so it seems Facebook is siding with Johnny Law on this one.
Since his initial post, Lake’s profile picture has changed to one that mashes up his mugshot with with beautiful face of Derek Zoolander. We’ll continue to follow this drama as it plays out to its inevitable, epic conclusion.
