Vic Police Shoot Two People After Man Pulls Gun In Melbourne Club

Police in Victoria have shot a man and a woman after an alleged altercation at a popular club on King Street in Melbourne‘s CBD, after reports of a man with a gun in the venue. 
Officers were called to Inflation nightclub just after 3am, and members of the Critical Incident Response Team attempted to negotiate with the man, who was in an upstairs room. 
They subsequently fired their weapon at the man, who was hit in the torso, and taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital under police guard, in a condition described as critical. 
A woman present was transported to The Alfred Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the leg. 
In a statement to the media, Vic Police said that:
“Armed Crime Squad detectives will investigate the shooting, with oversight by Professional Standards Command as per standard protocol when there has been a police shooting.”
