
Cole Miller, an 18-year-old from Brisbane, remains in a critical condition after being being punched in the back of the head. Police say the attack, which took place around 3.30am, appears to have been totally unprovoked.

Detective Acting Inspector Tom Armitt said security camera footage showed the attack to be completely random, and that there’s no evidence Miller’s attacker, one of four men at the scene, had any contact with him beforehand.

Det. Armitt announced there are twenty other detectives searching for the group, who fled Duncan Street in the Chinatown precinct of Fortitude Valley. He also said the attack was “a tragic event.. you feel for that person, you feel for his family.”

Miller is currently being treated in the ICU of the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. Here’s hoping he makes a full recovery.
UPDATE: ABC reports that two men are in custody of Queensland Police in regards to their involvement in the attack. More to come.
