Woah – Uber don’t fuck around!
If you missed it: a same-sex couple from Melbourne, Lucy Thomas and Chelsea Lang, copped some horrendous homophobic abuse while riding with a driver from Uber. Their story really damn scary, and harrowing listening. (Our earlier article about it is HERE.)
Here’s the recording that they took and uploaded; they wanted to share their story and call out this fucked up behaviour:
Thankfully, Uber responded quick as a bloody flash:

This afternoon, mere hours after the couple’s story went public, Uber notified Lucy that that had terminated the driver from their employ.

They gave this statement to PEDESTRIAN.TV:
“Uber does not tolerate any form of discrimination, and we have been in contact [with] this rider to offer our support.As soon as we were made aware of this incident, we removed the driver from the platform.”
