Sydney’s Martin Place Will Be A Smoke-Free Zone From Next Week

The inevitable is happening: Martin Place in Sydney‘s CBD will be a starting a smoking ban trial, from Monday the 18th of May.

Apparently the City of Sydney did a survey of more than 750 people (both smokers and non-smokers), and the majority showed a preference for the area to be smoke-free.

The ban will cover all outdoor areas throughout Martin Place, and rangers will be roaming around telling off anyone who’s caught puffing away.
Weird little postscript: rangers will also be handing out personal ashtrays to people caught smoking so they can butt out responsibly, according to 9 News.
