‘Serial’ Producers Announce Series Return, Are Recording Two Seasons At Once

There currently exists two types of people on Earth: those who associate little to no meaning with the name ‘Adnan Syed’; and those who have an attorney-level knowledge of the inscrutable details and conspiracy theories surrounding Syed’s 1999 first-degree murder conviction of Woodlawn High School student Hae Min Lee.

By virtue of you arriving at this article, welcome, second type of person. Congratulations on your excellent life choice.

It’s been just over six months since the soothing timbres of legendary Sarah Koenig have been guiding you through the unexpectedly huge true crime hit (the first season of ‘Serial’ was reportedly downloaded over 68 million times), which makes today’s news even more satisfying – taking into account the excruciating wait we’ve endured for this day to come.

According to AV Club, the second season of ‘Serial’ is officially on its way, and will likely drop in Spring (Australian time). Not only that, but the team behind Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder‘s podcast hit are working double time – double time, people – and are producing two seasons concurrently – no doubt because hell hath no fury like the insatiable wait between ‘Serial’ seasons.

At this stage, details on what the upcoming ‘Serial’ seasons will focus on are virtually non-existent. Will it be an eight-week long profile on the Mail….Kimp girl? Will it be a hard-hitting investigation into the phone at Best Buy (still not convinced, tbh)?

The producers have announced the series will be unrelated to its first season. Commence waiting game.
