Selena Gomez Is Reportedly Seeking Treatment After “Emotional Breakdown”

Selena Gomez has reportedly been admitted to a mental health facility after having an “emotional breakdown” in hospital, TMZ reports.

The 26-year-old, who received a kidney transplant last year, was reportedly hospitalised twice in the past few weeks – once in September and again, last week. TMZ report the cause was because of an “alarmingly low white blood cell count in the wake of her kidney transplant”.

During her second visit to hospital, Gomez reportedly suffered a panic attack.

She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point,” a source told PEOPLE magazine.

Sources confirmed to both TMZ and PEOPLE that Gomez is now seeking treatment at a facility.

“She realised she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues. She’s surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She’s doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast,” PEOPLE reports.

In September 2017, Gomez revealed that she had received a kidney transplant – as a result of her lupus diagnosis – from her friend Francia Raisa in an Instagram post.

During her 2016 ‘Revival’ Tour, Gomez admitted herself to a psychiatric facility after experiencing depression, anxiety, and panic attacks.

Last month, the artist announced she would be taking an indefinite break from Instagram.

Her caption read: “I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi.”
