Ryan McGinely’s Latest Show “Moonmilk” : Amazing!

Everyone’s favourite free spirited photographer Ryan McGinley is gearing up to launch his latest brand new solo show at Alison Jacques Gallery in London. Entitled “Moonmilk” McGinley stayed true his roots, of course he did, patching together a crew of nubile young teens to dance around in the deep dark depths of Ryan’s homeland (literally.)

Over the last year, McGinley and his posse explored huge caves underground, venturing into unknown territory, seeking out spectacular natural spaces, some previously undocumented. ‘Moonmilk’ alludes to the crystalline deposits found on the walls of many caves; it was once believed that this substance was formed by light from celestial bodies passing through rock into darkened worlds below.

A book of McGinley’s new photographs will be published to coincide with the opening of the London show on September 10, 2009.

Without sounding queer, Moonmilk to me really is a beautiful display of what I’d imagine human life to be like at it’s earliest existence. And to top it off it is also Ryan’s first ever UK solo show as well.

Here’s a little preview!
