Queen of the Models, Gisele Bündchen, Just Walked Her Last Runway Ever

The queen of the sexy/cute dichotomy, overlord of the model community, and the highest earning supermodel in the world announced her retirement from the runway last night.

Although rumours of her retirement have floated about for many years now, Gisele Bündchen finally announced the news herself, via Instagram.

I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey. Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business. #firstrunway #14yearsold ?????? Gisele told Folha de São Paulo, a Brazilian newspaper, that her body made her decision for her, “telling her the time is right.”

“… It asked to stop. I respect my body. It is a privilege to be able to stop.”

An illustrious 20-year career of being one of the most successful models in the game is a dream for many young’uns, but Gisele seems to be happy that she’ll have more free time for her family and for herself. She told the newspaper, “stopping [modelling at runway shows] will leave room for other projects I have for myself”.
