Thousands Of QLD Students May Have Had False QCS Results Published Online

Thousands of Year 12 students in Queensland have been warned to disregard potentially false grades from their recent Queensland Core Skills (QCS) tests, released online in what appears to be some sort of large-scale administrative error.

According to reports in Brisbane’s Courier Mail, results from the exams began appearing on the website of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority early yesterday morning, almost two weeks ahead of schedule.

Word quickly began spreading on social media – funny, that – and stressed-out senior students were able to log in to the website to see what appeared to be their grades for the test, ranging from A to E, which may or may not stand for ‘excellent’ (it doesn’t).

Some concerned students raised the issue with the QCAA, who responded to messages by saying that the results were “preliminary” only, and that finalised grades would be available on the previously-notified date a week and a half from now.

“The QCAA is working towards releasing QCS Test results to Year 12 students from 15 November,” the standard-form message read. “Unfortunately some students were able to view preliminary grades earlier today. We apologise for this error.”

CCAA CEO Chris Rider copped to an “administrative error” in the publication of the grades, and said via News Corp that “we apologise to students and their families for any confusion caused.”

We hope that not too many dreams were crushed in the confusion.
