Pussy Riot Member Arrested In Moscow Protest

Punk rock activists Pussy Riot had a pretty good 2014, what with headlining Festival Of Dangerous ideas and all, but it looks like this year isn’t going as fun for them, with news that member Maria Alyokhina has been arrested in a Moscow protest against Vladimir Putin yesterday.

Alyokhina was one of the members originally imprisoned (she is pictured above upon her release in December 2013) for the group’s contentious ‘Punk Rock Prayer’ back in 2012, and has said in various interviews that she is no longer an official member of the group. Hopefully that gels well with Russian authorities, but somehow we doubt it. The sentencing of Pussy Riot led to a support rallies and a massive movement across the world
Putin was to address the nation regarding the Crimea Peninsula (Ukraine’s) ‘return’ to Russia, which has created serious tension both in the region and diplomatically for Russia abroad.
