Police Begin Re-Enacting Tragic Dreamworld Accident With Crash Test Dummies

In an attempt to try and figure out what caused the deaths of four people on Dreamworld‘s Thunder River Rapids ride, police are re-enacting the circumstances that lead to the horrific accident.
A week after the accident occurred, police have closed the air space around and above the park and begun using crash test dummies filled with water to match the exact weight of those that were on the ride at the time.
The ride will be operated by the staff that were doing so on the day, including an 18-year-old who was on her first day of training for Thunder River Rapids, and the senior staff member who was accompanying her.
The park will remain closed until funerals have been held for the victims, but about 200 staff have opted to begin returning to work, according to the Dreamworld CEO:
“As I said on Saturday, all staff will be paid during our closure period regardless of their attendance here at the park.

“We will continue to have counsellors available for our staff to talk to for some time.”
The Australian Worker’s Union has suggested that Dreamworld had been operating its rides with less than the recommended number of staff, but Dreamworld have dismissed these accusations.
