28 Y.O. Man Arrested After Allegedly Spiking Woman’s Drink At A Newtown Pub

A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged yesterday after allegedly spiking a woman’s drink in Sydney’s inner west last week.

NSW Police state the 27-year-old woman was visiting a Newtown hotel with friends on Friday, November 22, when she left her drink to use the bathroom.

Authorities will allege the man then sat at the table, leaned over the drink, and spiked it with the drug GHB. The woman returned to the table and continued drinking before collapsing.

NSW Police state the woman was taken to hospital, where medical professionals confirmed the presence of GHB in her bloodstream.

The matter was referred to police, who arrested the man at his workplace yesterday afternoon.

He was denied bail and was slated to face Central Local Court today.
