At least six people have been reported dead after a man drove a truck down a bicycle path in the Lower West Side of Manhattan, before leaving the vehicle and appearing to fire a gun.
New York City Police Department confirmed they made the arrest near the World Trade Centre memorial site after “reports of shots fired.”
The vehicle struck multiple people on the path. There are several fatalities and numerous people injured.

Witnesses on the scene say the suspect struck several people, and an Associated Press photographer says they observed at least two bodies covered by tarps.
No ongoing threat has been reported.

Police have established a perimeter as they continue their investigation, and have advised residents to “expect many emergency personnel in the area.”
