Margaret Pomeranz And David Stratton Are Retiring From ‘At The Movies’

It’s the end of an era for Australian television today, kids. The ABC has announced that the much beloved, at times curmudgeonly, but always glorious duo of Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton will be recording their final ever episode of Aunty mainstay At The Movies on December the 9th of this year, before gracefully settling in to a most excellent retirement.

The pair have been appearing together on our TV screens for the better part of 28 years, originally co-hosting The Movie Show on SBS for 14 years, before moving across to the ABC for At The Movies in 2004.
Known nation-wide for their often staunchly opposing opinions on films – before somehow giving them similar star ratings – the pair cemented themselves as Australia’s pre-eminent film critics, with a level of respect amongst the international filmmaking community that is arguably unmatched for criticism in Australia.
The absolutely real and not at all fake and satirical Twitter account of “David Stratton” had this to say on the matter.

Enjoy the greener pastures of retirement, Midge and Dave. Lord, we’re going to miss you magnificent legends.
