Kesha Has Officially Dropped Her Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Dr. Luke

The OG sexual assault case in California between Kesha and Dr. Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald) has officially ended today.
The long-winded and tumultuous legal stoush has been happening since 2014, when the singer accused the producer of sexually assaulting her.
She was attempting to exit her contract with Sony, which kept her in a long-term working relationship with Dr. Luke – her first attempt was thrown out, and the singer appealed the decision.
This action was then put on hold pending the outcome of Dr. Luke’s lawsuit in June accusing Kesha of defamation in New York
Now, she’s decided to drop the original California lawsuit. Her lawyer Daniel Petrocelli gave a statement to Rolling Stone on her decision:
“Kesha has dismissed her California action without prejudice while she pursues her appeal and other legal claims in the New York courts.

Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label.

We have conveyed to Sony and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible.”
Dr. Luke’s attorney Christine Lepera has already responded with a statement:
“If Kesha is voluntarily dismissing her claims in the California case, it is because she has no chance of winning them.

Earlier this year, she lost her meritless counterclaims against Dr. Luke in the New York Action.

Recently, the California Court invited Dr. Luke and the other defendants to move to dismiss Kesha’s claims in that action.

Kesha never should have brought her false and meritless claims against Dr. Luke in any court.”
Lepara also confirmed that Dr. Luke‘s NY defamation case against Kesha would still be going ahead as planned.
