The Makers Of ‘The OC’ And ‘Gossip Girl’ Are Doing A ‘Nancy Drew’ Show

Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the team behind iconic dramas Gossip Girl and The OC, are returning with a brand new project, a modern take on the classic teen detective series Nancy Drew, and we are positively wetting our pants with excitement.

Trade publication Deadline reports that the show has been picked up by The CW – Schwartz and Savage will oversee the production, while Noga Landau of The Magicians will write. Per the official plot summary of the series:

“Set in the summer after her high school graduation, Nancy thought she’d be leaving her hometown for college. But when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation — and along the way, uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined.”

That sounds mysterious as hell, and frankly we are on board.

For those of you asking “hey, wasn’t there once a Nancy Drew movie with Emma Roberts or something?”, indeed there was – it came out in 2007 and co-starred Tate Donovan, aka Marissa Cooper‘s dad on The OC!

Schwartz and Savage have a long history of working together, and have also collaborated on such shows as Hart Of Dixie and The Carrie Diaries as well as the recent Dynasty reboot and Runaways
