Cancel your plans, don your robes, represent your house, and fucking party like it’s 2007 and DH just dropped, because Pottermore announced this morning that J.K. Rowling is releasing the script of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II, officially making this the eighth book in Harry Potter canon.

Deathly Hallows ended 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, with Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny waving their appropriately-named children off on the Hogwarts Express. Cursed Child – a story so “epic [in] nature” that it had to be told in two parts – begins exactly where DH left off, and from what we already know, is some kind of father-son tale about Harry the Ministry of Magic employee, and his youngest son, Albus Severus Potter. (What is James Sirius Potter? The next-door neighbour?)
The play opens in London‘s West End this July 30, with the digital and print editions launching simultaneously the day after the premier (July 31). This first lot will feature the script as it stands during the preview shows (which run for several weeks), but a later Definitive Collector’s Edition will feature the final one.
In other Wizarding World publishing news, a new version of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, complete with new content from Rowling, is dropping, as are four new special editions of Philosopher’s Stone to make the 20th anniversary of its release, one for each of the houses.
Quidditch Through the Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard are also getting a makeover.
BUT AN EIGHT HARRY POTTER BOOK. Screaming / crying / feeling the full range of emotions right now, tbqh with you.
