Hillsong Church pastor Brian Houston has been charged by police for allegedly concealing information about child sexual abuse dated back to the 1970s.

Per the ABC, Houston was charged on Thursday afternoon following a two-year investigation, which alleges that he failed to report the alleged abuse of a young man by his father, Frank Houston.

A spokesperson for NSW Police confirmed that the they will allege in court that Houston was aware of information about the sexual abuse of the young man in the 1970s by his father, and did not take that information to the authorities.

The 67-year-old pastor of the Baulkham Hills-based megachurch is due to appear in court at the Downing Centre in Sydney on October 5th after being charged with concealing a serious indictable offence.

It’s yet to be confirmed as to whether Brian Houston will physically attend his set court date, or face the magistrate by livestream from his current residence in the United States.
