Heath Ledger Scholarship Awarded To Brisbane Actress

Anna McGahan was awarded the 2012 Heath Ledger Schloarship Award at fancy ceremony held at the L.A celeb hangout Chateau Marmont.

As a part of the prize the 24-year-old Brisbane drama grad won $10 000 cash and a scholarship to the renowned Stella Adler Acting School. She is the fourth recipient of the annual scholarship (previous winners include Bella Heathcote who recently appeared alongside Johnny Depp in Dark Shadows), courtesy of the LA based not-for-profit collective Australians In Film.

The fund was created in honour of Heath Ledger in the aim of memorialising his generous spirit and assisting Aussie filmmakers with their craft, with benefactors that include Ledger’s former fiancee Michelle Williams, ex-girlfriend Naomi Watts and Aussie film-heavyweights Baz Luhrmann and Hugh Jackman.

Anna played a scheming prostitute in Underbelly 4: Razor and just finished shooting the lead role in the unreleased Aussie horror film 100 Bloody Acres, directed by Cameron and Colin Cairnes. Currently in the US for a little longer, Anna will soon head back to Melbourne to continue filming Channel Nine’s new series House Husbands.

The event was attended by the likes of Miramax boss Harvey Weinstein, Abbie Cornish, Josh Lawson and Liam Hemsworth <3 Miley.
