Police Have Presented Two Potential Criminal Cases Against Harvey Weinstein

Two potential criminal cases against Hollywood producer and accused serial sexual abuser Harvey Weinstein have been put to the L.A. County District Attorney‘s office by the Beverly Hills Police Department, months after The New York Times’ massive exposé into his extensive alleged history of misconduct.

The District Attorney’s office has not yet determined if it will bring charges against Weinstein, and has not revealed details regarding the potential cases.

The move comes after months of investigation into allegations of Weinstein’s misconduct. Police forces in Los Angeles, New York, and London have launched investigations into the claims of his reported abuse.

Variety reports that Beverly Hills Police Department has also filed five potential cases against director James Toback, who also faced a raft of sexual misconduct allegations in the fallout of the Weinstein report.

Weinstein has consistently denied any nonconsensual sexual conduct. He attended a rehabilitation centre late last year, but reportedly left after one week.

Toback has also denied the allegations made against him, calling them “pathetic lies. It’s just too fucking embarrassing and idiotic.”

While the Los Angeles Police Department set up a special unit to handle sexual abuse allegations in light of the Weinstein scandal, it has yet to put any potential cases to the District Attorney’s office.
