ANTaR has been working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and leaders on rights and reconciliation issues since 1997. ANTaR have been at the heart of the reconciliation movement since then, and through their Sea of Hands movement, nearly 400,000 Australians have signed their name on a hand and planted it in installations around the country. The National Reconciliation Week the Sea of Hands is coming back to Sydney Harbour. ANTaR is in need of some volunteers to help bring to life a v. spesh landmark reconciliation event at Barangaroo Reserve! Inspired by historical portraits depicting Eora men, including Bennelong, adorned in customary markings, the designs for the Sea of Hands Installation will include 16,000 hands in the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, designed by Indigenous artist and research, Brenda L Croft – and you get the chance to be apart of it! There are two awesome volunteer roles going, you can be either an Infohub Representative Volunteer or a Hand Plant Volunteer (SYD), feel free to volunteer with a pal! If you wanna help spread the spirit of reconciliation in Australia, contribute to a beautiful community event with a nationally recognised social justice NGO, work with like-minded legends and you don’t mind being surrounded by some Syd Harbour views while you volunteer, then grab a mate, get to it and apply HERE
