More devastating news out of 2016 with confirmation everyone’s favourite, Carrie Fisher, has died aged 60.
The much-loved actor suffered a heart attack aboard a Los Angeles-bound flight last week, with a medic onboard performing CPR until paramedics arrived.
She was taken to hospital and placed on a ventilator, where she remained in a stable condition until her passing.
A spokesperson for Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, confirmed the news in a statement just-released:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Her mother, Debbie Reynolds, thanked fans for their undying love for Fisher, who will always be remembered for her iconic portrayal of Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise but enjoyed an illustrious career spanning almost four decades.
“Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop.”
Fisher’s dog Gary, who’s very active on social media, tweeted this just now and we actually cannot.
