It’s happened. Donald Trump is now the President of the United States, after being sworn in by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts in front of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C.
Taking to the lectern after being sworn in, Trump delivered a speech which he directed towards America and the world at large. After thanking the Obamas for the peaceful transition of power, Trump pointed his speech at the establishment:
Today we are not merely transferring power from one party to another… but we are transferring power from Washington DC and giving it back to you, the people.The establishment protected itself but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. While they celebrated in our nation’s capital, struggling families could not.That all changes, right here, starting right now. Because this moment is your moment. It belongs to you […] This is your day, this is your celebration, and this, the United States of America, is your country.
Trump ended his speech on a note familiar to any who have followed his campaign – he promised to rejuvenate America:
We will make America strong again. We will make America wealthy again. We will make America proud again. And yes, together, we will make America great again.
Whether he will actually do this, what it will look like, and who will benefit leaves to be seen. There was nothing in his speech we didn’t already see on the campaign trail – but his supporters love the hits. Here it is, in it’s entirety:

No disruptions were recorded at the event itself, though protests persisted in downtown DC, and some shopfronts and vehicles were damaged. Several large marches are planned in the nation’s capital for Saturday.
