Demi Lovato is awake and surrounded by family members as she recovers from a suspected overdose, her representative has told Variety.
In a new statement after the 25-year-old singer’s medical emergency, the representative said Lovato’s family “want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support.”
However, the statement added “some of the information being reported is incorrect”, and that family has asked for “privacy and not speculation” as Lovato recovers.
Celebrity news outlet TMZ, which reported Lovato suffered a suspected heroin overdose when it broke the story, now reports that she did not overdose on the opiate.
Citing a source close to Lovato, TMZ states she was administered Narcan to alleviate the effects of opiate overdose, but that heroin itself was not the cause of the suspected overdose.
Lovato was rushed to hospital this morning after reportedly being found unconscious at her Hollywood Hills home.
Friends of the Sorry Not Sorry singer have publicly expressed their support after the incident.
