Cory Bernardi And Penny Wong Are Going To Debate Same-Sex Marriage

Two Senators, not quite alike in dignity, in fair Canberra, where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.

Or, in other words, Cory Bernardi and Penny Wong are going to debate same-sex marriage at the National Press Club on July 29. HOOOOOH BOY.

Cory Bernardi, to jog those memories, was the one responsible for those same-sex marriage will lead to bestiality comments, which are consistently rolled out to deride the anti-marriage equality argument.

“The next step … is having three people that love each other should be able to enter into a permanent union endorsed by society, or four people. There are even some creepy people out there, who say that it’s OK to have consensual sexual relations between humans and animals. Will that be a future step?”

We’d say it only gets worse from there, but actually that’s about as low as it’s possible to get.

Other things Cory’s said about two lads or lasses getting hitched is that it hurts the children, because children need two different gendered parents, and won’t someone PLEEEAAASE think of the children.

“You’re virtually endorsing that it’s not important to a child to have either a mother or a father,” he told Buzzfeed earlier this year.

Just this Monday, Penny Wong, who has two daughters with her partner Sophie Allouache, had to remind certain senior politicians that homosexual people can already have children, thanks all the same.

“Memo to [Senate leader] Eric [Abetz]: we’ve already got children, all you are doing is saying the parents can’t be married,” she said on ABC radio.

Penny Wong is also a campaigner for equality for women, LGBTI rights, and a multicultural Australia, while Corey Bernardi? Well, Corey thinks his original comments were RIGHT.

This debate. It’s gonna be beautiful.
