Coalition Stick To Party Line; Say No To Conscience Vote On Marriage Equality


The ABC reports that, after hours of debate today, Liberal MPs have decided that they will stick with the party line on marriage equality. So, they will not be allowed a conscience vote on the bill to legalise same-sex marriage.
Interestingly, the ABC were told that Prime Minister Tony Abbott told MPs that the next election would be the last the Coalition could go to supporting the traditional definition of marriage, and that the they would need to either support a free vote or give the public a vote.
Here’s a big middle finger to engaging in weird and unnecessary stalling tactics, rather than make the choice to make history and help install a more equal society for Australians of all sexualities:
