Brexit Will Be Delayed Another Six Months, So It’s Clearly All Going Well

It’s looking increasingly likely that European Union leaders will offer the UK a Brexit extension until the final days of October, but EU leaders want a review in June.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May spent her Thursday in an EU summit with the 27 other members of the EU to discuss the offer. Officially, May had only asked for an extension til June, but it now looks like the EU will allow it be pushed back to October 31.

Earlier, German chancellor Angela Merkel had implied she and other leaders were prepared to offer a longer delay but French President Emmanuel Macron insisted the UK provide an explanation of why it needed the extra time and how it planned to use it.

May will now meet with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, to discuss and possibly agree to the deal.

Last month at least one million people held Brexit protests in London, calling for the UK’s final Brexit decision to be put to the public.
