The Aussie artist behind the notorious Donald Trump nude/micropenis painting has been assaulted on a street in Los Angeles.
ICYMI, this is the painting – it’s been heavily censored in the US, and an ‘anonymous person’ even threatened to sue. There’s some flaccid dick ahead (not a lot of it thoooooo), so NSFW warning and all that shit.
Illma Gore posted photos and details of her assault to her Instagram page, saying that the attacker yelled ‘Trump 2016’ as they punched her in the face.
“Today I was punched in the face by a man who got out of his car and yelled, “Trump 2016!” in Los Angeles, just days after I returned home from London just down the road from my house.Though I encourage passion, opinion and emotion, especially though art, I think violence is disgusting. To live in a place where Facebook has given my address to an anonymous third party makes me feel like I am homeless again. This type of violence makes creatives feel like we live in a world where our individual creative input isn’t safe.I am sad that this is the state of our America right now. I am sad that Trump, and many of his supporters, don’t find words enough to express their opinions – they need walls, waterboarding and punches.”
She directly tagged Trump‘s Instagram page, asking him to stop glamorising violence:
“@realdonaldtrump Please stop glamorizing and perpetuating violence. Make America Decent Again! #makeamericadecentagain”
The artist said that the men involved haven’t been caught, but she has filed a detailed police report. In a second photo, she asks for any witnesses to come forward.
The artwork, despite being removed by Facebook and censored in the US, is now up for viewing in Maddox Gallery in London, and Gore was also passing out posters of the image around Coachella.
