AUSLOL: Pauline Hanson Has A Decent Shot At Weaseling Back Into The Senate

OH GOD. IT’S 1998 AGAIN.
Pauline Hanson is reasonably cocky about getting back into the Senate, and is claiming that her candidates have a bloody good shot in every state they’ll contest.
The Queenslander has a much better chance than usual of getting back into office, since the Senate will be halved due to the double dissolution election. According to ABC psephologist Antony Green, she’ll need just 7.7% of the vote to make it into the Senate – normally she’d need 14.3%.
This morning on ‘The Today Show’, Hanson said she was “quietly confident” of getting back into the Senate, but she made it clear that she wasn’t coming for Glenn Lazarus’ seat.
“Most people in the state wouldn’t even know who their 12 Senators are, so I’m not going after Glenn Lazarus’ seat. If Glenn has done his job, he will get voted back in.

But what about all the other Senators? Who are they? What have they done? People never hear or see from them. You can’t even get into their office.

You know, those other seats are up, those other 11.”

Hanson is the leader of the One Nation Party (and has been since 2014). Their website lists 18 candidates running for the Senate and House of Representatives, mostly in Queensland but there’s also some in SA, VIC, WA and Tassie.

“I’m saying that in every state that I’m standing Senate candidates, we have a great opportunity to win a seat in every state. I’m not standing candidates in the ACT or the Northern Territory, I’m standing in excess of 30 candidates Australia-wide.

So that’s the biggest number outside the four major political parties.”
So, she’s feelin’ confident. We are scared.
According to Newscorp, the Liberal National Party has already drawn up a campaign plan to stop her.
