Young And Restless Disband

First Damn Arms and Schwipe and now Young And Restless? Is it just me or are the cultural creators of Melbourne slowly dying off?

In news that will upset anyone who has seen them live, Melbourne four-piece Young And Restless announced their breakup yesterday via a blog on their Myspace page. Titled “THE END” the post thanks family, friends and fans while explaining: “in the last few weeks it has become clear that this is the end of the road for our band”. For Young And Restless fans and music lovers within the Melbourne vicinity, the band will play one last show at The Arthouse this Friday so go and say goodbye the exact way you fell in love with them. In a heaving box of sweaty bros while Karina Utomo screams in your ear. You will be missed guys…

THE END.

Hi friends,

Young And Restless has now been a band for four and a half years and consumed large parts of our lives. We never expected to make it as far as we have and we have been honoured and excited by all the interest and support from our friends, family, fans and fellow bands. Through relocating interstate, lineup changes, touring and recording we have all had our share of amazing times, but in the last few weeks it has become clear that this is the end of the road for our band. We will be playing ONE final show at the ARTHOUSE in Melbourne THIS FRIDAY 21/08/09 – if you can make it, please come down and get messy with us one last time.

Thankyou to all who have came to shows, listened to our music and helped us along the way. We’ll see you soon.

YOUNG AND RESTLESS

RIP Y+R. Remember when?
