YEAH NICE: This Vivid Ideas Panel Is All About Being A Woman In Music

Vivid Festival is probably on your radar as that time of year that the city gets all sparkly with pretty lights, some sweet-ass bands come and play in our big Opera House and you have to walk around with your elbows out to get through the masses of amateur photographers all trying to take the same photo of a luminous installation.

If you’re not into the whole light-art thing, don’t worry, there’s plenty of stuff you can chuck your eyeballs on. And let me tell you, this one looks good as hell.
The Museum of Contemporary Art is playing host to a grouse panel of women in the music industry discussing how to make your mark as a woman in the biz.

Question.
Pathway to Platform: Making It In The Music Industry follows the journeys of the four panellists and their very different experiences in the industry, and how they’ve made it work for them to max-out on the wins they’ve had.
The event’s speakers include Vicki Gordon from the Australian Women In Music Awards, Shefali Pryor from Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Dr Rita Crews OAM from Music Teachers’ Association of NSW and our fave DJ, KLP (who you might also know from Triple J).
You’ll also be kicking off your day just right with some musical treats from Sophie Koh and Iluka. The whole thing is also being moderated by Music Love founder, artist, and all-round great woman, Julie Kerr.
It’s all happening thanks to Music Love, who are a great team of people showing off all of the women in Australian music that are doing incredible shit (and tend to get left in the wake of the dudes).
So if you’re into a bit of inspiring women chatting shop while you’re sipping on your morning coffee, get along to the event at 9am on June 10
You can pick up your tickets over here.
