Watch The Sydney NYE Fireworks From Literally Anywhere This Year

Produced in association with our mates at Telstra.

The best childhood NYE memories consist of watching millions of dollars literally go up in smoke while simultaneously clutching your mother tight and trying to make the loud noises stop. If you yearn for those days of yesteryear and still wish to honour the tradition of oooohing and ahhhhing at fireworks but with an adjustable volume dial, The 2014 Sydney New Year’s Eve Telstra App was basically made for you.

With 360º video highlights c/o The Sydney NYE Telstra YouTube Show and live coverage throughout the night, you’ll have access to some of the best fireworks in the world right in your pocket.

If, however, you still plan on doing grown-up things on December 31, here are some totally acceptable places where you can still make the best of both worlds.

AT THE HARBOUR

Look, if you haven’t already staked out a spot by the harbour to catch the action, there’s not a lot of hope left for you. If you must try your luck though and find yourself packed like a sardine with little options to breathe let alone see anything past the humidified mop of hair that is threatening to shove itself down your throat, whip out your phone and catch the show with a live soundtrack.

UNDER THE STARS
If you make up the other 70% of the population who do not reside in Sydney but still want that harbourside experience, you totally can. Firstly, get outside and find yourself a body of water. If you’re not near a lake or the beach, get resourceful and grab yourself a bucket of water. Lay down near said water and look up at the stars. Now grab your device, hold it up against the sky and watch the show. It’s pretty much exactly the same as being there.

AT THE BBQ YOUR PARENTS FORCED YOU TO GO TO
If you find yourself being dragged along to a family gathering, this is your chance to relive the glory days with your mother. When the countdown begins, clutch her tight, shove the screen in her face and scream, “We’re reliving a mother/daughter/son moment here!”

IN DA CLUB
If you see your ex macking on with your BFF and just cannot deal
with the ~drama~ RN, find yourself a nice dark corner, watch the
fireworks and pretend your mother is hugging you tight while you
quietly sob.

FROM YOUR BED
If you plan on spending NYE in bed, you better have a damn good reason – like, you’re in a hospital bed, you gave birth 12 hours earlier or you just CBF with pants. If your current plans consist of peanut butter ice cream, wine and pyjamas, ward off FOMO by streaming the action  on the Sydney NYE Telstra Youtube Show and watch live sets from acts like The Temper TrapArt Vs. Science and Zeek Power. If they’re not your style, tune into the second stream covering the happenings at Cargo NYE and bed dance to the likes of Hermitude, Crooked Colours, The Aston Shuffle and more!
