War Magazine and Kate Moross

Named perhaps as a counter point to Katie Grand’s Love magazine, the newly launched War Magazine “recognises and synergises the interest of a diverse range of cultural tribes. We’re interested in everybody and everybody’s interested in us.” Their words not mine.

Fashionista sheds some light: Some of the !WOWOW! kids (a group made of dj’s, artists, designers and stylists, which once included Gareth Pugh – kind of like what the MisShapes are in New York, only we had Family, Anti Social and Boombox) have come together to start a new London-based magazine, WAR. The new title’s main focuses are fashion, style, opinion and politics with the art direction overseen by 22 year-old creative Kate Moross (not a spelling mistake).

Kate Moross besides having a name that is phonetically similar to the most bankable model in fashion is a prolific illustrator, graphic designer and artist. At just 22 years of age Moross has amassed a catalogue of work that makes this 21 year old feel plain talentless and lazy which is probably a fair statement anyway. Moross has lent her fantastical geometric line drawings to musicians such as Telepathe, Midnight Juggernauts, Animal Collective and Mystery Jets. She has also worked with commercial clients such as Ford, Cadburys and Pepsi, created a capsule clothing range for Topshop and collaborated with designer Rebecca Turbow, contributed to Vice, Dazed Confused and Fact Magazine and also runs a boutique record company called Isomorph.
