Tyler, The Creator Officially Cancels Aussie Tour After Mass Controversy

Well, it’s official: Tyler, The Creator‘s Australian tour has been cancelled.

This move comes after weeks of controversy over activist group Collective Shout circulated a petition to have Tyler, The Creator’s Aussie visa revoked, arguing that his lyrics ventured on the ‘pro’ side of rape and extreme violence against women.

We would much rather come to Australia when it isn’t surrounded in controversy,” said Tyler, The Creator in a statement. “I love my fans there and hopefully I’ll be back soon. Don’t do drugs.

Although he tweeted weeks ago that his visa had bene cancelled thanks to the petition (inciting masses of online vitriol getting hurled at organiser Coralie Alison), this fact was denied by promoters – although they did admit there were “raised issues with the visa application”.

It’s still kiiiiiinda being denied now; Frontier Touring aren’t blaming visa issues here, it’s purely ‘controversy related’. TBD.
