I don’t know about you but, for me, the ideal gig unfolds like this: Doors open at 7. A support act plays from 7:15 to 7:45. The band itself plays from exactly 8 until exactly 9, after which I swiftly catch the train home and am back in the heavenly comfort of my own by 9:30. I’m not there to fuck spiders — I’m there to watch between 12 and 13 songs before my poor little feeties get sore.
Tyga, it seems, is there to fuck spiders. According to punters who rocked up to his show in Wollongong on Sunday night, the audience was subjected to four hours of DJ sets before the rapper appeared on stage for a grand total of 15 minutes.
According to the Illawarra Mercury, the show at the Waves Nightclub at Towradgi Beach Hotel was sold out, with fans paying between $60 and $80 for a “very intimate club show“.
The original set times had Tyga booked for a slot between 11:15 and midnight, but fans say he didn’t come out until 11:45 and was forced to stop when the venue shut at midnight.
One concertgoer told the Daily Mail that police were waiting until the stroke of midnight to begin telling people to get the fuck out of the venue: “‘Police walked in and then Tyga was high-fiving people and the lights turned on and everyone was ushered out.”
What a way to spend a Sunday night.
