Ya Girl Thelma Plum Mixes Khalid With ‘Old Town Road’ For This Week’s ‘Like A Version’

It’s been a big ol’ week for Thelma Plum, she’s just dropped her debut album Better In Blak, revealed just how she managed to land both Paul Kelly and Paul McCartney on her tracks, and now she’s laid down a slick rendition of Khalid‘s ‘Young, Dumb & Broke‘ for this week’s Like A Version.

Flanked by her band and a couple of vocalists, Thelma takes the Khalid banger to a smooth, soulful place with her equally nurturing and commanding voice.

Thelma excellently and intentionally quavering through a higher register, fluttering her vocals like butterfly’s wings, before switching into Lil Nas X‘s ‘Old Town Road‘ without missing a single beat.

It’s perfect listening for a chilly winter’s Friday morning, maybe you’re nursing a dusty head after a couple of red wines last night (me? never, I’m a responsible professional), and you emotionally and mentally can’t deal with anything more intense than some grooving fuzzy soul this morning.

Sit back into this and let it wrap you up like a warm cinnamon bun. You deserve to be comfortable and cosy today.

While in the studios, Thelma Plum laid down a live version of her own single, ‘Better In Blak‘, and with winged eyeliner so sharp it could quite genuinely cut a man, she picks up the pace and delivers a damn tight performance.

Happy Friday folks! Yee haw!!
