The Wombats Just Dropped Dates For A Huge 2022 Aussie Tour & This Feels Like Nature Is Healing

Crack out your new calendars and diaries, because there’s something for us to actually look forward to: The Wombats are coming back to Australia in 2022. Yep, the three lads are returning to us like prodigal indie sons, and tripping around the country on a massive national tour.

The Wombats are set to hit Australia in June 2022, with a seven-date tour hitting Perth, Hobart, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, and Brisbane across the first half of the month.

I don’t know about you, but it truly feels like something healing knowing that The Wombats are coming back. Good to see we’re headed back to some slight level of normalcy, really.

“To say we’re excited about coming back to Australia to play some shows is the understatement of the century, but hey, the English language can only do so much,” the band said.

“So without further ado… WE ARE SO FORKING EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE HAVE A NEW ALBUM COMING OUT IN JANUARY AND A TOUR, YES THAT’S RIGHT, SOME ACTUAL GIGS/CONCERTS/PERFORMANCES IN AUSTRALIA NEXT YEAR, CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL!”

The ‘yuge 2022 tour coincides with The Wombats’ latest single, ‘If You Ever Leave, I’m Coming With You‘, and the announcement of their sixth studio album, Fix Yourself, Not The World, which is due to land on January 7, 2022.

In the beautiful age of COVID, the album was written and recorded remotely over three countries where each of the lads have spent the last 18 months – singer Matthew “Murph” Murphy in Los Angeles, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen in Oslo, and drummer Dan Haggis in London. It’s a mean feat but it’s bloody paid off, with the first single ‘Method To The Madness‘ being a rolling bop and a return to form by the Liverpudlian trio.
