Terry Gilliam To Direct Live Arcade Fire Video

After announcing a secret-ish Spike Jonze collaboration earlier this year, Canadian cinemaphiles Arcade Fire will team up with Monty Python legend turned filmmaker Terry Gilliam (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Twelve Monkeys) for a live broadcast of their upcoming Madison Square Garden show in New York City.

Says the Associated Press: The Arcade Fire show kicks off “Unstaged,” a new online concert series being launched by American Express and streamed on YouTube. The Montreal-based band will live stream their Aug. 5 concert at 10 p.m. EDT, the second of two shows at MSG.

Considering most of Youtube’s live videos involve shaky visuals, half obscured vantage points and blown out sound it’ll be awesome to see how Gilliam captures the Arcade Fire magic with something a little more powerful than a mobile phone. Teaser below, with ample amounts of hair-flicking catharsis and slow motion yelping.
