Mark your calendars, smart phones or cave walls people – here be the dates and location for Splendour In The Grass 2011! Bongo drum roll please…for the second year in a row Splendour will take place at Woodfordia in South East Queensland, spanning from Friday the 29th til Sunday the 31st of July. As most longtime punters will be aware, Woodfordia is but a temporary solution for organizers who continue the approval process for the festival’s own permanent home at North Byron Parklands.
Says the presser: “Since 2006, Splendour In The Grass has been working toward establishing a permanent sustainable event venue to stage the festival at the 660 acre North Byron Parklands site at Yelgun in the north of the shire. The Parklands project is still undergoing a comprehensive approval process with the NSW Department of Planning and can’t be considered for this year’s festival.”
Luckily their contingency location is mega serene and conducive to good vibes so we relish the wait. Expect a first announcement of acts in the coming months but for now save the dates below…
