Radiohead have been heralded by marketing folk world over as the Einsteins of the music industry due to their subjectively “ingenious” approach to selling their last record “In Rainbows.” You know the deal they gave fans the opportunity to purchase the record digitally at whatever price point they felt was reasonable including the one that reads $0.00
However, finally, after more than a year and a half of collecting accolades Sonic Youth have called them out as the selfish _______ (insert derogative colloquialism here) musicians they are, accusing them of neglecting their fellow musician home bros & sisters, literally, in a quote to the Gaurdian. Take it away Ms.Gordon;
“I don’t really think they did it by themselves. They did a marketing ploy by themselves and then got someone else to put it out. It seemed really community-oriented, but it wasn’t catered towards their musician brothers and sisters, who don’t sell as many records as them. It makes everyone else look bad for not offering their music for whatever.”
Yeah you tell’em Kim!
P.S. My hard drive lays home to Kim & Thurston’s entire discography yet not one kilobyte is taken up by anything Thom Yorke has creatively put his hands to, hence this was always going to be a negative piece hating on The Head… Can I call them that? . And yeah I should probably mention that I’m largely out numbered in the Pedestrian office by Radiohead fans which leads me to allude to the fact that thoughts published are not necessarily views of the publisher.
