The Rolling Stones last week validated Adelaide’s inclusion in Lonely Planet’s Top Ten Cities in The World To Visit In 2014 list by announcing the City of Churches and its newly revamped Adelaide Oval as what was at the time the only destination on their much ballyhooed 2014 Australian tour. That has since been amended with the world’s most iconic living rock band announcing a further string of dates in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Victoria’s culturally significant Hanging Rock, an increasingly popular destination for men of a certain age (see: Leonard Cohen and Bruce Springsteen) as part of their impending 14 On Fire Tour.
“Can’t wait to reconnect with all our friends in Australia and New Zealand,” Mick Jagger definitely said. “It’s been a while since we’ve played to you all, so we are looking forward to being back on stage & playing your favourite songs.”
“We all had such a ball this year and so we wanted to keep it going,” Keith Richards added. “The energy between the band is better than ever and we’re all looking forward to coming back Down Under. I can’t wait to get back on the stage with the boys.”
